Thing 23

I really enjoyed using the world cat because I was able to see how the library locates ILLs and how it all works. I really like the system and can see how it has become very successful. I also enjoyed "playing" in the sandbox. I liked how everyone could respond to the questions and add their own responses to everyone else. The only thing I didn't like about that was when looking at the sandbox it was impossible to tell who wrote what. I did not really like the RSS feeds because I prefer going onto all the different websites to view what I am looking for. I go online when I have the time to enjoy being online and speeding up the process doesn't sound all that great to me.

Thing 22

I do not really like the idea of downloading a book off the internet. I prefer to go to either a library or a book store and get the book. I find it easier to see the item in book format than listening to it. I did not like having to wait for the book to down load and then having to listen to it. I do not even like books on cd that much because I feel like I am trapped when listening to them. It almost feels like you cant go anywhere with them. I guess if you were to load them onto and ipod or something they could be taken places but I would much rather use an actual book.

This link to to a podcast interview of Benji and Joel of Good Charlotte. They discuss their new album, Good Morning Revival. They talk about how their new album has a completely new sound and how they have changed from the older albums.

Thing 20

I found this video on Youtube.com it is Good Charlotte performing live at TRL. This is one of my favorite Good Charlotte Songs. I love youtube because you can easily find all the new music videos that are out.

Thing 19

When looking through the Web 2.0 Award Winners I noticed a site called cocktail builder which looks pretty interesting. I would use this for our new years parties because it tells how to make all different kinds of cocktails. I'm not knowledgable on how cocktails are made and what is in them so this would really help.

Thing 18

I would use the collaborative features of Google Docs or Zoho when working on programing with our Teen Librarian. We would be able to cordinate information without actually being in the same place at the same time. It may also be easier because we work different hours and this way all of the information will be right there accessible to both of us. We will also be able to edit the information so that we both know exactly what is going on at that moment.

This is a picture of the spasmatic gysers in Yellowstone National Park. I visited Yellowstone about three years ago and it was the most beautiful place I have ever seen. I really enjoyed being there and experiencing it all. This picture brings back memories of that wonderful trip of a lifetime. :)

Thing 17

I really enjoyed using the Wiki. I liked being able to add to other people's comments. I like that the information on our page was fun things and not things that people would do research on. Like Wikipedia the information is sometimes used for research when really it is not meant for that. I enjoyed reading what the other staff members of OCL wrote.

Thing 16

I looked at the Library Success Wiki and liked the fact that there was all kinds of information available. I did not like that things were organized by titles and it was confusing to find things. I do not like that wikis are made by all different people and can be edited by anyone. With anyone being able to change the information it is not reliable.

Thing 15

I really enjoyed reading "Into the New World of Librarianship" I thought it was interesting that the they mentioned the fact that librarians do not buy technology just to be cool. Librarians are the type of people who test the technology and do not buy it unless it works to their advantage in some way. Librarians are always working to improve future services.

Thing 14

I read an article about erasing a computer's hard drive before selling it. I found that to be very intersting. I would like to continue reading about this topic because I find it very intersting. I was also told that you can never completely erase your harddrive so I am wondering how it can be done.

:)

Thing 13

I enjoyed using del.icio.us was intersting. There was all kinds of information at your fingertips. I also liked that everything could be bookmarked. I think this type of thing could be very useful esepcially when you use different computers. This will save the information for you and you will not need to save it to the computer. I also enjoyed reading other's thoughts about the different articles.

Thing 12

I did not like net library at all. I thought it was hard to find books throught their searches. It seemed like not matter what I searched I could not find what I was looking for. I tried doing a topic search, a subject search, and an author search. I was not able to find anything. I found this to be frustrating.

I thought world cat was awesome! I recently requested an ILL which I looked up on world cat. I found that our library recieved the item from the closest library who had it. The book I requested is The Super Simple Guide to Planted Aquariums. The book was sent to me from the Brooklyn Public Library. I really like this program.

Thing 11

My Library Things link is http://www.librarything.com/catalog/koalablue4ever. I like the idea of being able to list out all the books I have read and keep track. It is also neat to be able to see what others thought of the books I have read. Most of the books I listed were very popular only one of them was not really that popular. I enjoyed reading the discussions about the books in the Twilight series.

Thing 10--Technology

I like technology. I have an ipod and love it. I think that its great that I can keep all of my music in one place. At the same time I really dislike that many of the new pieces of technology have kinks that they need to get out of them. It takes a while before things begin to work properly without needing to be fixed, like the Iphone. When it came out there were all kinds of problems with it.

Thing 9

After looking at each of the different search tools used for finding feeds I decided that I liked the layout of the topix.net the best. It seemed to be the easiest to use. Syndic8.com did not give much information, the searcher really needs to know what they are looking for. That particular one is not that great for browsing.

Thing 8

The thing I liked about RSS is that everything is in one place. I think that the library could use it for reference because everything would be in the same place and it could just be clicked on. I most likely will not use this in my personal life.

This is a picture of the waterfall in the campground we stayed in. It was the most beautiful part of our vaction.

Thing 2

The easiest habit for me is to begin with the end in mind. I tend to struggle with using technology to my advantage. When I start something I usually can visualize the end and know exactly how everything should flow. When it comes to technology, I struggle to keep up and understand how to use it to its fullest extent.
